On the 61st episode of The Richard Robbins Show, I sat down with Matthew Ferrara, Dean of Innovation for leading real estate companies and a man who has built an international training firm, helping to deliver management consulting to global sales organizations.
Though Matthew does have his real estate licence, his journey within the real estate industry has not been as clear-cut as you might expect. He has never sold a single home.
“I didn’t know the business from a sales perspective, but I knew it from how it operates with marketing and technology.”
Matthew tells me that his education and background in philosophy and political economics gave him a different perspective on real estate. “I was the guy who took all of the courses and attended all of the classes, trying to understand it from the inside out. Thinking, how can I add value and how can I move things along.”
Prior to the pandemic, Matthew typically travelled over 250,000 miles a year, delivering hundreds of talks and seminars each year. While this sounds like the definition of success, it wasn’t what Matthew necessarily wanted. “I don’t want to just be the guy who did the most seminars, I don’t want that on my tombstone. I want to make a different difference. When I change my mindset from just doing deals, to making a difference, that’s how I unlock the secret to having a good life.”
In this episode of The Richard Robbins Show, Matthew and I discuss the secret to success and how to define yourself within the real estate industry. Matthew will teach you how to escape the ‘Sea of Sameness’, he will share some brilliant ideas on how to stay focused and motivated and, finally, he will change your perspective on the pandemic and why its presence gives you an opportunity to evolve.
