Ep #74: Crazy or Courageous? Changing Careers and Chasing Dreams with Valerie Garcia

On the 74th episode of The Richard Robbins Show, I sit down with a fellow international speaker and consultant, who has spent the majority of her career focusing on the real estate space, Valerie Garcia.

Valerie began her career in real estate as an administrative assistant for her local Century 21 branch in Michigan. “My real estate journey started the day that my broker came in with a big box, threw it on my desk, and said ‘this is going to change our lives’, I opened it, and it was a fax machine.”

From that day forward, she focused her efforts on learning new skills and technology and passing along that education across North America. Valerie became a trainer with Century 21 before becoming the Director of Training with RE/MAX. She travelled the world, and met thousands of people, “and then about 7 years ago I decided to do something different and I went out on my own.”

In the blink of an eye, Valerie started from scratch, all on her own.

Valerie tells me, “I was scared out of my mind.” She continued to explain that some days were tougher than others. “It’s this mixture of one day you’re for sure going to die alone, broke, under a bridge, and the next day you’re like, ‘this is great, I can do anything!’ and you just go back and forth between the two.”

In this episode of The Richard Robbins Show, Valerie and I catch up and talk about the importance of adaptability, the power of being vulnerable and the secret to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Ideas Worth Sharing

I made a conscious decision 7 years ago, to not just be a consultant, a writer or a speaker, but to be an encourager. Valerie Garcia @richardlrobbins Share on X I do think that a good brand has a humanizing element. We want to feel like this brand, that we’re buying into or working with, actually is more about just making money. I am drawn to brands that have a purpose. @richardlrobbins Share on X We get so tempted to throw all of the things at all of our people but if we do one thing consistently, and do it really, really well, we can find that we actually get really good results from that thing. But it takes time, effort… Share on X
