What one goal, if achieved would have the greatest positive impact on you?
Last year I posed that question to our Beyond Coaching Members, and challenged them to set and pursue a Breakthrough Goal.
Many stepped up, but no one more than Tracy Mullin.
Tracy is a long-time coaching client. She?s a self-employed, 42-year-old single mother of two who always believed that she was not a disciplined person.
To overcome this limiting belief she decided her Breakthrough Goal would be to participate in an Ultimate Fitness Event.
This is no small feat. UFE participants reach remarkable levels of physical fitness. Participating in UFE required that Tracy hire a trainer, create a plan, go public with her goal for accountability, work out twice a day for five months at 5:30 am and 8:00 pm, eat six home prepared healthy meals per day – all while still operating her real estate business/team and continuing to provide financially for her family with no guaranteed income. Accomplishing her goal required pure discipline.
How did she do? Unbelievably! At 5’2″ she went from 131 lbs to 106 and in five focused months was on stage participating in the Ultimate Fitness Challenge.
The most important question, though, is not how she did, but who did she become?
As Tracy said:
“I never thought I was disciplined…however I now believe that we are not born disciplined or undisciplined… discipline is a choice! It has been over 6 months since I competed and I have never felt stronger or more sure of myself.
I also have a newfound respect and appreciation for my body and still wake up everyday at 5:15 and go to the gym. I’m now committed to my health, looking great and feeling awesome. I have more energy than ever before, I get more done at work and home…but most importantly the impact I have had on others has most gratifying. My sister has lost 22 lbs, my Mother lost 13 lbs and I feel like am now leading by example for my kids.?
It?s who we become in the pursuit of a “Breakthrough Goal” that makes the difference. Tracy?s goal changed her, and as a result, it changed her life.
