To say my next guest on The Richard Robbins Show is an icon would be an understatement. Sherry Chris, Inman’s Innovator of the Year 2010 & 2015 and Realogy Expansion Brand’s President and CEO, is at the forefront of innovation and development in our industry.
A London, Ontario native, Sherry has worked in the real estate industry for over 30 years, reaching a global audience overseeing Better Homes and Gardens and ERA.
With her finger on the pulse of the industry, there’s no better person in my mind to ask about the future of real estate. Sherry had a decisive answer, “A lot of what we are seeing today is not new. It’s just cycling back in, and it’s cycling back in with a lot more money.” Sherry explains that with the amount of unprecedented global liquidity, there is a lot of cash looking for a home, “You’re making a bet on the future of the industry…There are a lot of ‘build and see what happens’ scenarios.”
With iBuyer technology at an all time high and uncertainty brewing within the industry, Sherry’s advice is this: “What I encourage our brokers to do, and anyone in the industry, is to create deeper relationships with the consumer. Provide exceptional customer service. That will sustain your business, it will help you grow, and it will help you capture those elusive…customers for life.”
Sitting down in her new hometown of New York City, Sherry and I share a valuable conversation on the importance of a deliberate value proposition, why ‘disruptors’ are simply pioneers helping to shape the real estate industry and why, despite technologies best efforts, it’s traditional business techniques that still make the greatest impact.
Enjoy this enlightening interview with a real estate superstar, Sherry Chris.
