In the 53rd episode of The Richard Robbins Show, I sat down with someone who has become a quick friend to myself and the entire RRI organization.
Derek Timmons, a Calgary based real estate professional and RRI Coaching Member, is relatively new to the industry but has made an immediate and lasting impression on everyone he comes across.
A construction worker turned real estate professional, Derek tells me that his path was carved out for him as a teenager. “I remember when I was sixteen years old, my uncle came over to help my dad and I build a deck. He looked at me and said, ‘kid, you ain’t all that bright, and you aren’t going to make a living as a model, so if I were you, I’d learn how to swing this’, and he handed me a hammer.”
Now, just 3 years after becoming a full-time real estate professional, Derek is already celebrating over 100 transactions in his career. His success, he claims, is simple, “I just stayed focused and did what I was told every single day. I was consistent with my actions and didn’t let my head get too big.”
In this episode of The Richard Robbins Show, I talk with Derek about his new but exciting journey as a real estate professional. Derek gives us some insight on how he’s found his success in such little time and provides real, actionable advice on how to grow your business. We discuss the advantages of Google analytics, Derek’s ‘5 Point Game’ to grow a database and why it’s never too late to change the direction of your life for the better.

The basics in any business are always going to be the same. The basics in real estate are: Establish a network of people that know, like and trust you, and are aware of what you do for work. Derek Timmons @richardlrobbins Share on X
My task was: Call everyone I know and talk to them. Find out how they’ve been. Eventually, based on the law of reciprocity, people are going to ask how you’re doing. Derek Timmons @richardlrobbins Share on X
It all doesn’t happen in a day. Not everything is a fire. I can take a minute, decompress it, evaluate it and go from there. Be in control and don’t allow outside factors to affect your thinking and emotions. Derek Timmons… Share on X
